Erick Rudolph Picks Up his 3rd BRP Modified Tour Point Champion Title and was Honored at the 2022 Banquet on Saturday at Edward Michaels Building

Marble, PA……9/10/2022…..The final points night ended on Friday, September 9th and the 2022 BRP Modified Tour Champion was honored on Saturday, September 10th at Edwards Michaels building on the speedway grounds. Erick Rudolph secured his points title on Friday night with a second-place finish.

This was Erick’s third BRP Modified Tour Championship and he picked up the $4,000 championship money, championship gift of a personalized fire ring, and accumulated 823 points over the season with wins at Lernerville Speedway, Hummingbird Speedway, Knox Raceway and Sharon Speedway. Finishing second in points was Rex King, Jr. with a total of 771 points and one feature win at Expo Speedway. Third place in points was Brad Rapp with a total of 715 points. Chas Wolbert finished fourth in points with 658 and rounding out the top five was Rick Regalski with 637 points.

Chas Wolbert received $1,000 for being the Rookie of the Year sponsored by Russ King Racing and was determined by points. Chas finished fourth in points where the other contender for Rookie of the Year was Mike Kinney who finished seventh in the final point standings.

MadSkins Race Car Bodies/Sunflowers of Sanborn provided $150 gift certificates to the following: Rodney Beltz, Ray Bliss, Ayden Cipriano, Mark Frankhouser, Adam Hilton, Rex King, Jr., Erick Rudolph, Tyler Willard, Chas Wolbert, Brad Rapp.

MadSkins also provided five other prizes at the banquet including Outer Body Kit (Doors, Quarters, Windows & Pillars) also one-Wing Kit (Deck, Middle Wings & Front Wings) – Dave Murdick; Outer Kit (Doors, Quarters, Windows & Pillars) – Kyle Fink; Bumper Kit – Garrett Krummert; BRP Heavy Nose – Mike Kinney; $100 Gift Certificate – Rex King, Jr.

GME Mfg. provided bottles of power steering fluid to the top 20 drivers. Frankland Racing Supplies provided $75 gift certificates towards a rebuild for rearends for each of the top 20 drivers. Wrisco Aluminum also provided for the top 20 drivers a sheet of aluminum and Big Daddy’s Speedway supply provided $25 gift certificates.

The biggest drawing of the day was done by a reverse draw for the drivers with perfect attendance and taking home the 2023X Bicknell Racing Products Modified Chassis from Bicknell Racing Products out of St. Catherines, Ontario, Canada was Erick Rudolph . This chassis was valued at $6,985. Rex King, Jr. won a helmet compliment of Racequip for being the next finisher in the drawing. Racequip also provided a pair of shoes and a pair of gloves to the third and fourth place reverse drawer.

In addition to the $21,660 point fund payoff the following drivers received an additional bonus of $500 for perfect attendance from the BRP Modified Tour:

Erick Rudolph, Rex King, Jr., Brad Rapp, Chas Wolbert, Tyler Willard, Rick Regalski, Mike Kinney, Mark Frankhouser, Steve Barr, Ray Bliss, Steve Slater, and Rodney Beltz.

Following the 2022 BRP Modified Tour Championship Banquet was the 25th Silver Anniversary Showdown that paid $7,000 to the winner and $500 to start. This concludes the 2022 BRP Modified Tour season. However; we can announce that Bicknell Racing Products is back on board for the 2023 season with a 2024X Chassis for a BRP driver that has perfect attendance in 2023. Jeremiah Shingledecker Captures the BRP Modified Tour 25th Silver Anniversary Feature on Saturday Night at Michaels Mercer Raceway

Marble, PA……9/10/22……..The BRP Modified Tour 25th Silver Anniversary Showdown found local racer Jeremiah Shingledecker capture the 50-lap feature win and taking home the $7,000 top prize money. This race was to celebrate the 25th season of the BRP Modified Tour and produced the largest payoff for the Big Block Modifieds in Western Pennsylvania.

Time trials set the heat races and Garrett Krummert set the track record with a time of 16.203 and took home $100 for setting fast time compliments of Team Green/MRO Outreach Ministries. The heats were lined up according to times and taking heat race wins were Erick Rudolph, Rex King, Jr. and Chas Wolbert.

Eric Gabany was to start on the pole for the feature, but had problems with his car and was unable to make the call for drivers introduction so he was put to the rear of the field. This gave Jeremiah Shingledecker the pole with Mike Kinney, the Michaels Mercer Raceway Big Block Modified champion in just his Rookie Year in a Modified the outside pole. Starting in row two was Rick Regalski and Garrison Krentz.

At the drop of the green for the 50-lap event Mike Kinney jumped into the lead at the drop of the green flag over Shingledecker, Krentz and Garrett Krummert. Kinney held the lead through the first four laps before Shingledecker took the lead away on lap five. The caution flag flew on lap eight for Rodney Beltz and on the restart Krummert was able to take the lead from Shingledecker with Erick Rudolph making his way into third.

Krummert set sail and extended his lead by several car lengths over Shingledecker until Krummert suffered a flat tire on lap fourteen bringing out a caution. Krummert was able to come out at the tail of the field and Shingledecker inherited the lead again.

Several caution periods occurred in the final 35-laps but it never fazed Shingledecker and he cruised to his largest ever paying feature win. An excited Shingledecker crawled out of the car in victory lane and said, “I need a beer!!! That’s more than double the biggest race we ever won. I have to thank the Michaels family for putting this on. Their track is 200% better than it was. When you have Rudolph and Krummert besides you, you can only have so many restarts until they beat you but it’s part of the show. It feels good to get back here and picking up $7000 doesn’t hurt anyone’s feelings.”

Garrett Krummert started at the rear after his flat tire and came through the field to finish second. Eric Gabany who started at the rear of the twenty-six-car field finished third. Fourth went to Erick Rudolph with Mike Kinney finishing fifth.

The Hard Luck Award sponsored by Rudolph Snow Plowing went to Brad Rapp who suffered engine troubles. The New Track Record Holder and Fast Qualifier sponsored by Team Green/MRO Outreach Ministries went to Garrett Krummert with a time of 16.029. The Fast Lap of the Race Award sponsored by Competition Carburetion went to Jeremiah Shingledecker.

This race concludes the 2022 racing season for the BRP Modified Tour Racing Series. The board will start to work on the 2023 season and updates will be upcoming in the months ahead.

Marble, PA……9/6/2022…….. The final points night of 2022 will take place on Friday, September 9th at Michaels Mercer Raceway and will pay the winner of the race $2,500. Then on Saturday, September 10th following the Championship Banquet for the BRP Modified Tour which will take place on the speedway grounds in the afternoon, the highest ever paying BRP Modified Tour event will take place and will pay the winner a cool $7,000. This is all taking place to celebrate the 25th Silver Anniversary of the BRP Modified Tour Series.

The BRP Modified Tour was started back in 1998 with a vision that Tim Engles had to give local racers a chance to compete for higher purse structures and a point fund for all scheduled events. The BRP Modified Tour is a non-profit organization that was started by Tim Engles, Lon and Pam Baker and Randy Myers. The BRP Modified Tour has had great success at bringing regional cars together at various speedways in Western Pennsylvania, Ohio, New York, West Virginia, and Canada. Three of the four founding members are still on the board of directors today.

Friday night at Michaels Mercer Raceway will find the point championship being determined between Erick Rudolph and Rex King, Jr. If Rudolph captures the point title it will be his third BRP Modified Tour Championship in 25 years. If Rex King, Jr. can take over the points lead it will find him taking home his fifth BRP Modified Tour Championship. Just 44 points separate the two going into Friday night, so it is either one of these driver’s championship at this point.

Saturday night will find the BRP Modified Tour cars running time trials to set the heat races for the big A feature. Those heat races will set the 24-car field for the feature. That purse will total $27,020 which will see the winner take home $7,000 and the starter going home with $500. There will then be a Non-Qualifiers feature which will find the winner collecting $750 and also it will pay $150 to start.

Provisional starters will be as follows:

Friday Night’s Winner – 1st provisional

Fastest Qualifier - 2nd provisional

2022 BRP Modified Tour Champion – 3rd provisional

Team that travels the farthest distance. (Mileage will based off Google Maps from their driver’s license address.) Any tie will be determined by a pill draw. Lowest pill will be in the A feature. BRP Modified Tour directors will have the final say on who qualifies for the A feature and who doesn’t. - 4th provisional.

In the case that any of these Provisionals overlap – Same person with 2 or more qualifications, one or more Provisionals will be dropped.

*$100.00 will be given to the Fastest Qualifier

*$100 for a New Track Record holder. (If a past record has been established.)

*The starting lineup for the feature will find the first 3/4 rows depending on the amount of heat races needed will be determined through an 8-lap Dash. The rest of the field will fall in according to heat race finishes. Any provisional will tag the field accordingly.

Garrett Krummert Leads Every Lap of the Final BRP Modified Tour Points Race to Pick up the Win at Michaels Mercer Raceway on Friday, September 9, 2022

Marble, PA…..9/9/22….Garrett Krummert had his car on a rail on Friday night and ended the BRP Modified Tour 25th Silver Anniversary Point season with a dominating race over the twenty-four car field at Michaels Mercer Raceway on Friday, September 9, 2022.

Mike Kinney and Garrett Krummert brought the field to the drop of starter, Steve Wheeling’s green flag with Erick Rudolph and Rick Regalski close behind in row two. Krummert got the jump on Kinney on lap one, but the race was slowed as the caution flew on lap three for Regalski and Rex King, Jr. who got together. On the restart, Krummert once again got the jump on Erick Rudolph who was now in the second position. Krummert and Rudolph started getting into lapped traffic on lap nine and by lap twelve were in heavy lapped traffic.

The caution flag waved on lap twenty-three for Rex King, Jr. and on the restart Tyler Willard and Chas Wolbert got together on the front stretch bringing out the caution once again. Willard’s car suffered enough damage that he could not continue, but Wolbert was able to continue.

Once again under green Krummert continued his dominance of the final points race and went on to pick up his second win of the 2022 season. Erick Rudolph finished second and became the 2022 BRP Modified Tour Point Champion for the third time in 25 years. Third place went to Mike Kinney who put up quite a fight with Rudolph for second but fell back in the closing laps to ride home third. Fourth went to Brad Rapp with Tom Glenn rounding out the top five.

Heats were won by Erick Rudolph, Rex King, Jr. and Tyler Willard. The Fast Lap Award sponsored by Competition Carburetion went to Garrett Krummert. The Rudolph Snow Plowing Hard Luck award went to Steve Barr.

Ryan Susice Picks up his 2nd Win on the BRP Modified Tour Racing Series at Hummingbird Speedway

Marble, PA………7/16/2022…… On a beautiful Saturday in July , Ryan Susice had the night off from his regular track so he ventured south from New York to Pennsylvania’s Hummingbird Speedway and picked up his second win of the season with the BRP Modified Tour. The 35-lap event went wire-to-wire and took under 10 minutes to run the entire race which went caution free.

Ryan Susice and Erick Rudolph led the 17-car field to the green flag and Susice beat Rudolph to the first turn and as lap one clicked off was the leader of the race. However, the next lap Rudolph passed Susice in turn three to take the lead. Rudolph held a firm lead over Susice Rex King, Jr. Brad Rapp and Mike Kinney through lap eleven. The leaders started entering heavy lapped traffic on lap ten and using that to his advantage, Susice took the lead away from Rudolph on lap twelve.

By lap fourteen the lapped traffic became very heavy but Susice had no problem managing the lead ahead of Rudolph. By lap twenty-four Susice had accumulated a 1.5 second lead over the rest of the field. Susice held on to the lead and at the end of the race was 1.59 seconds ahead of Erick Rudolph in second. Susice went on to pick up his second feature win of the season, his first coming at Ransomville Speedway on June 24th.Erick Rudolph held on to finish second ahead of Rex King, Jr. in third. Brad Rapp finished fourth ahead of Chas Wolbert in fifth.

Picking up heat race wins were Dave Murdick and Erick Rudolph. Brad Rapp won $175 for drawing pill #4 in memory of the late Rick Hall, board member of the BRP Modified Tour.

The next race on the BRP Modified Tour schedule will be the Ralph Quarterson Memorial race on August 13th at Michaels Mercer Raceway and will pay the winner $3,300. Don’t forget our big 25th Anniversary Weekend Spectacular is coming up on Friday and Saturday, September 9 & 10th at Michaels Mercer Raceway. The Friday night portion will be the final points night for the BRP Modified Tour series and then on Saturday, September 10th the Big Event to celebrate our 25th season will take place which will be a 50-lap $7,000 to win, $500 to start event with a Non-qualifiers race which will pay $750 to start. We will also hold our banquet at the track facility at Noon on Saturday, September 10th and will distribute point money to the top 20 drivers.

Rex King, Jr. Makes Family History picking up the Russ King Memorial Feature Win at Expo Speedway

Marble, PA …….7/14/2022…..The BRP Modified Tour held their sixth series event at the Expo Speedway during the Trumbull County Fair in Cortland, OH. The race was the Russ King Memorial honoring Rex King, Sr’s. father and matriarch of the King family.

There were 18 cars on hand for the event on Thursday evening and starting on the front row for the event was Jim Rasey and Rex King, Jr. followed by Garrett Krummert, Chas Wolbert, Brad Rapp and Erick Rudolph who made us the first three rows. At the drop of the green, King, Jr. got the jump on Rasey and led the first nine laps before the caution came out for Steve Slater who spun on the track.

On the restart, King, Jr. once took command of the race with Krummert right behind. As the field went down the backstretch, sixth place starter, Rudolph passed Krummert to take over the second position with King, Jr. still leading the pack.

On lap 20 the red flag was displayed as Shawn Kozar went hard into the second turn jersey barrier and destroyed his fuel cell as fire erupted. Kozar was able to get out of the car and the fire crew was right there to put of the fire. Kozar was done for the night as his car sustained heavy damage.

Due to the size of the racetrack at Expo the race was shortened to 25-laps so when the race resumed under green King, Jr. found Rudolph, Krummert and Rapp lined up right behind him, but the hometown driver was not fazed and went on to pick up the feature win, his first BRP Modified Tour win of the 2022 season. Point leader, Erick Rudolph finished second ahead of Garrett Krummert, Brad Rapp and Jim Rasey.

Heats were won by Erick Rudolph and Rex King, Jr. Each driver that attended Expo Speedway received an additional $138 compliments of Rex and Sis King.

Jeremiah Shingledecker Leads Wire-to-Wire in BRP Modified Tour Event at Tri City Raceway to Capture his First Win of the Season in Series Racing

Jeremiah Shingledecker struck the match on the 4th of July fireworks as he led every circuit of the 36-lap event Sunday night at Tri City Raceway. Twenty-seven cars were on tap for the event, but unfortunately an accident in the third heat race put Steve Slater and Brad Deeter on the trailer before the feature took place.

Dave Murdick and Brian Swartzlander brought the 25-car field to the drop of the green flag with Jeremiah Shingledecker, Rex King, Jr and Erick Rudolph close in tow. Shingledecker made the what would be the winning move coming of the second turn on the initial start of the race bringing Erick Rudolph with him. Shingledecker and Rudolph paced the field with Shingledecker extending his lead over Rudolph by six car lengths by lap nine. By lap thirteen, the leader encountered heavy lapped traffic and weaved his way through the cars before a caution for Austin Eyler slowed the event. One more lap was completed after the restart before the caution flag flew for Travis Shingledecker.

On the restart, Swartzlander was able to pass Rudolph for second and Shingledecker jetted out to 10-car lengths over second place. Jeremiah Shingledecker had such a lead by lap twenty-eight that he was ¾ of a straightaway ahead of second place runner Swartzlander. Rex King, Jr. had worked his way into third and worked hard to pass Swartzlander but was not successful.

On lap thirty-three the gremlins struck and the first caution was for Tyler Willard. On the restart, Garrett Krummert came to a stop in turn. The next restart on lap thirty-four found Brad Rapp, Steve Barr and Shawn Kozar getting collected together on the back stretch. The red flag flew on the next restart for Shawn Kozar whose car dug into the front stretch and went over. Kozar had some shoulder pain and a cut on his arm, but otherwise was uninjured. However, his car suffered some heavy damage and had to be taken back to the pit area on the tilt bed.

Since this all happed with thirty-four laps in the books, it set up the final two laps making the event a 36-lap race and once again Shingledecker ran off and hid ahead of the rest of the field to capture the popular win. Brian Swartzlander finished second. Rex King, Jr. blew a right rear tire coming off of turn four giving third place to Erick Rudolph. Fourth place went to Jim Rasey with Rick Regalski bringing out his brand new Bicknell car after blowing the motor in the Mike Turner ride on Saturday night and finished fifth. Heats were won Jeremiah Shingledecker, Dave Murdick and Rex King, Jr.

Coming up next for the BRP Modified Tour will be the Russ King Memorial race at Expo Speedway on Thursday, July 14th and then Hummingbird Speedway on Saturday, July 16th.

Erick Rudolph Captures the Sid Unverzagt, Sr. BRP Modified Tour Event at Knox

Erick Rudolph set off the fireworks for the start of the 4th of July weekend capturing the BRP Modified Tour Sid Unverzagt, Sr. Memorial event at Knox Raceway on Saturday, July 2nd. Knox Raceway hosted the Sid Unverzagt, Sr. Memorial race with the BRP Modiifed Tour’s first visit to the speedway since 2000, and the 24-car field was paced by Sid Unverzagt, Jr. to honor his father before the start of the feature. On the pole for the BRP Modified Tour event was Steve Barr and alongside was Erick Rudolph. The pair brought the field to the drop of the green flag with Rudolph sprinting into the first turn ahead of Barr. Rudolph led the first seven laps with Dave Murdick, Rex King, Jr. and Billy Van Pelt close behind. The caution flag waved at the end of lap seven first for Sid Unverzagt, Jr and then for Steve Slater.

On the restart, Rudolph was the man in charge as he took the lead, lapped all but the sixth-place car, and led every single lap of the 35-lap event. The race paid $2,500 to win and an additional $1,840 in lap money was added for a total of $4,340. Finishing second was Murdick with eight place starter, Billy Van Pelt finishing in the top three. Fourth place went to Rex King, Jr. with Brian Swartzlander rounding out the top five. Ryan Susice Captures BRP Modified Tour event at Ransomville Speedway on a beautiful Friday night in New York

Marble, PA….. (June 24, 2022) …..Ryan Susice from Wilson, NY won the 3rd event of the BRP Modified Tour series on Friday, June 24th at Ransomville Speedway. There were 33 cars registered for the event representing Canada, New York, Pennsylvania, and Ohio. The weather was gorgeous and 15 of our regular point drivers made the tow to the track for only our second visit ever to the New York speedway.

Ryan Susice and Luke Carleton brought the 24-car field to the drop of the green flag for the 35-lap BRP Modified Tour feature event, with Susice leading the way over the field. Zach Payne took over third from BRP regular Dave Murdick, but Murdick would regain the position on lap two. Billy Van Pelt, Gary Lindberg, and Pete Bicknell, all started to make their way towards the front.

On lap seven, Susice would hit lap traffic just as Gary Lindberg moved into fourth place after passing Van Pelt and Payne. Mark Frankhouser spun in turn two bringing out the first caution flag on lap nine. Gary Lindberg used the restart to take second away from Carleton and would quickly go after Susice for the lead.

Lindberg and Susice battled for the lead, as Pete Bicknell entered the top three after passing Carleton and Murdick. Susice would hold off Lindberg through the halfway point. Marshall Hurd and Ryan Ferri got together on the back straightaway to bring out the second caution on lap 15.

On the restart, Pete Bicknell would take the second position away from Lindberg and would go after leader, Susice. Tyler Willard would enter the top four after passing Luke Carleton on lap 22. After a mid-race visit to the pit area, Erick Rudolph, current BRP Modified Tour points leader would re-enter the top 10 on lap 24. Susice would pull away from Bicknell and Lindberg to pick up the checkered flag and the $3,050 top prize money.

It was an eventful day for Susice, as he was scheduled to drive the Slack Racing #3rs car, but a motor let go while in the pit area which forced the team to go to another car. Susice was able to get in the Patrick Hoopes #10 entry, which proved to be the winning combination as Susice led wire-to-wire to pick up the popular victory. Finishing second was Pete Bicknell, followed by Gary Lindberg in third. Fourth place went to Tyler Willard with Luke Carelton rounding out the top five.

The BRP Modified Tour will be back in action on Saturday, July 2nd at Knox Raceway in Knox, PA for the running of the 1st Annual Sid Unverzagt, Sr. Memorial event. There will be over $1,600 in lap money along with another $1,200 or more in special awards added to the $2,500 to win purse. Included in this night of racing will also be a special 358 Modified Dash that will pay $1,000 to win. If a car is entered and driven in the BRP Modified Tour race, there will be no extra entry fee. However, if a driver runs a different car for the 358 Dash then a $50 entry fee will be required. Then on Sunday night, July 3rd the BRP Modified Tour will venture to Tri City Raceway in Franklin, PA for their fifth event on the season.

Erick Rudolph Wins BRP Modified Tour Event at Hummingbird Speedway

June 4, 2022………The most beautiful day of the year so far greeted drivers and fans at Hummingbird Speedway in Reynoldsville, PA on Saturday night as the 2nd event of the BRP Modified Tour Racing Series took place. Twenty drivers were on hand for the event and making the long tow from Ransomville, NY Erick Rudolph captured his second win in two events.

After the redraw that was done in front of the fans in the stands Brian Swartzlander had the lucky draw of number one and started on the pole alongside Dave Murdick. The two brought the field to the drop of the green with Swartzlander getting to the first ahead of Murdick and led the opening lap. Swartzlander continued his lead until lap four when a caution for Mark Frankhouser grouped the field back together.

On the restart, Swartzlander once again got the jump into the first turn, but this time ahead of Garrett Krummert. Krummert held second for two laps before Rex King, Jr. took over that position and then went to work on the leader, Swartzlander. On lap fifteen, King, Jr. was able to take the lead away from Swartzlander and led the next four laps before eighth place starter, Erick Rudolph took the lead away. The duo of Rudolph and King, Jr. battled for the top position several laps before Rudolph was able to gain a couple of car lengths cushion between the two.

With just two laps to go in the 35-lap event Rodney Beltz brought out the caution flag which grouped the field together one more time. As per BRP Modified Tour rules, when a caution flies during the last five laps of the event, a single-file restart took place and Rudolph using the very bottom of the speedway was able to hold on for his second series win in 2022.

Rex King, Jr. held on for second ahead of tenth place starter, Brad Rapp who finished third. Fourth place went to Dave Murdick with Brian Swartzlander falling back to fifth. Heats were won by Erick Rudolph, Kyle Fink and Dave Murdick.

The next series event will take place on June 24th at the Ransomville Speedway in Ransomville, NY. Then over the Fourth of July weekend the BRP Modified Tour will visit Knox Raceway (formerly Sportsmans Speedway) on July 2nd and then the next night will travel to Tri City Raceway on July 3rd.

BRP Modified Tour 25th Anniversary Season Opener in the Books at Lernerville

5/20/2022………Marble, PA…. The start of the BRP Modified Tour’s 25th Anniversary Season Series event is now in the books. Even though the weather was unpredictable during the day the sun came out and provided the fans with some great racing action at Lernerville Speedway on Friday night. Erick Rudolph picked up the feature win after traveling all the way from New York.

Twenty-six cars were on hand for the event and Lernerville Speedway was gracious enough to let all the cars start the feature without having to run a B-Main. On the pole for the event was Colton Walters and Tom Glenn.

Tom Glenn sprinted into the lead just past the flagstand to lead lap one of the 35-lap event. Glenn only held that lead for two laps before Rex King, Jr. came charging to the front from his fourth place starting position. King, Jr. led through lap six and on lap seven, Fonthill, Ontario, Canada driver Tyler Willard took the lead away from King.,Jr. Willard held the lead until lap eleven when Ransomville, NY’s Erick Rudolph used the high side of the speedway to capture the lead.

A caution flag waved on lap twenty-eight for Jeremiah Shingledecker who had white smoke pouring out of the back of his machine. This grouped the field together for the restart with Rudolph in first and Rex King, Jr. hanging on for second. However, on lap thirty the caution flag waved once again for Tyler Willard. The final five laps found Rudolph leading the way and went on to pick up the win. Brian Swartzlander and Garrett Krummert swapped the lead for second a few times before Swartzlander was able to cross the finish line ahead of Krummert.

Erick Rudolph won the event that paid $2,500 to win with Swartzlander second. Krummert finished third with Rex King, Jr. fourth and Brad Rapp came home fifth after being pushed over the cushion on the backstretch on lap six bringing out the caution and having to restart at the tail.

Chas Wolbert rookie driver in the Big Block Modified division this year brought home sixth after starting twenty-fifth in the field. Another rookie driver this year Mike Kinney finished seventh with Rick Regalski eighth, Tom Glenn ninth and Steve Slater tenth.

The next event for the BRP Modified Tour will be at Hummingbird Speedway on Saturday, June 4th followed by the Tour group heading North on June 24th to Ransomville Speedway.

BRP Modified Tour Announces 2022 Season Schedule along with 25th Silver Anniversary Weekend Showdown

Marble, PA ……..12/21/2021… The BRP Modified Tour will be celebrating their 25th Silver Anniversary season in 2022 and many exciting events will be held during the upcoming season. With prices increasing for fuel, race car parts, tires, etc. and the availability of products being a problem right now, we are keeping our 25th season to a 11 race schedule with a 2-day season ending event that should make our 25th year the biggest ever!. Purses have increased across the board for our 25th season with $ 2,500 to win a regular BRP Modified Tour 35-lap event. Money has been added to all positions, some more than others.

The BRP Modified Tour was started in 1998 by Tim Engles, Lon and Pam Baker, and Randy Myers to allow the Big Block Modifieds in Western Pennsylvania/Eastern Ohio area a chance to compete for a higher purse structure and point fund for their scheduled events. Celebrating our 25th Silver Anniversary season, The BRP Modified Tour has found our drivers competing in events at various speedways in Western Pennsylvania, Ohio, New York, West Virginia, and Canada.

Michaels Mercer Raceway Park is in the process of preparing the track with a new, red-clay surface, new LED lighting, new pit grandstands located off the back stretch and reopening the concession stands once again.

The BRP Modified Tour schedule will start off May 20th as the Lernerville Speedway will host the BRP Modified Tour drivers, then we head to Hummingbird Speedway on June 4th. On June 24th the Tour will travel to Ransomville Speedway where something special is being worked on that will help us with our 25th season celebration.

Knox Raceway (the former Sportsman’s Speedway) will honor the late Sid Unverzagt, Sr. by hosting a BRP Modified Tour event on July 2nd. Thursday, July 14th the Tour will travel to Expo Speedway as part of the Trumbull County Fair, and then on Saturday, July 16th the Tour will return to Hummingbird Speedway. Saturday August 13, finds us back at Michaels Mercer Raceway for the running of the prestigous $3300 to win "Ralph Quarterson Memorial". Saturday, September 3rd the Tour will participate at Sharon Speedway for The Lou Blaney Memorial race. Tri City Raceway is also on the race schedule, but a date has not been set.

Our final points race of the season will be part of a two-day 25th Anniversary Weekend Showdown to be held on September 9-10 at Michaels Mercer Raceway. Friday night will be the final points race for 2022 and will be a regular 35-lap event paying $2,500 to win. Then on Saturday we will be running a $7,000 to win; $500 to start event to wrap up our 25th season! Our banquet for our 2022 Champion will be held at the track on Saturday, September 10th at noon and then our 50-lap, $7,000 to win race will be held at the regular race time.

The Steel City Stampede will still be a part of the BRP Modified Tour series for 2022; however, it will be held as a non-point event that we hope our drivers participate in on October 13-15, 2022. We will still have our trailer at the event and will help with registration and lineups.

BRP Modified Tour Closes Our 2021 Season by Honoring Chad Brachmann as Series Champion

Marble, PA…… 11/13/2021……The 2021 BRP Modified Tour Racing season came to a close on Saturday night as Chad Brachmann was crowned the 2021 BRP Modified Tour Champion. Over $32,000 in cash and prizes were distributed to the top 20 point drivers in the series.

The BRP Modified Tour series ended up with 19 events on the schedule. There were 15 races completed with three rained out and another canceled.

Chad Brachmann and Rex King, Jr. had quite the battle during the season and when it was all over at Lernerville Speedway in October, Brachmann beat King, Jr. by one point. Brachmann made the long tow every race from Sanborn, NY to compete with the BRP Modified Tour during the season. Brachmann was presented a check for $4,000 for the championship and an additional $500 for perfect attendance of all 15 races. In addition he received a Hoosier Tire Championship jacket along with a beautiful metal wall hanging of his car.

Every driver in attendance received a gift certificate for a sheet of Wrisco Aluminum, a $25 Big Daddy’s Gift Certificate and also a $75 Gift Certificate from Frankland Racing Supply. Door prizes were distributed as well as Chinese Auction items. The 50/50 was received by Christine Conners. The top 11 drivers with perfect attendance received a bonus of $500 for supporting the entire season of the BRP Modified Tour.

Special awards that were distributed were: Hard Charger Award – Chad Brachmann with a total of 61 passing points; Hard Luck Award to Steve Slater; Most Improved Award to Mark Frankhouser; Rick Hall Memorial Award to Steve Barr and the Debbie Oyler Memorial Award went to Eric Gabany. Other special awards that were presented by Racequip went to Shawn Kozar who won a brand new Racequip helmet; Rex King, Jr. who won a pair of Racequip shoes and Dave Murdick who won a pair of Racequip gloves.

Rex King, Sr. was awarded a brand new 2022X Bicknell Racing Products chassis kit valued at $6,285 at the season ending race at Lernerville Speedway. A reverse draw was held in front of the grandstands with the 11 perfect attendance drivers eligible for the draw. It was announced at the banquet that Bicknell Racing Products will be back on board in 2022 with their sponsorship of a 2023X Bicknell Chassis to the drivers that have perfect attendance in 2022.

Rex King, Jr. finished second in points ahead his father Rex King, Sr. in third. Fourth place went to Brad Rapp with Dave Murdick fifth. Sixth place went to Rick Regalski over Garrett Krummert, Steve Slater, Steve Barr, Mark Frankhouser, Eric Gabany, Shawn Kozar, Rodney Beltz and Kyle Fink. Rounding out the top twenty in points were Shawn Fleeger, Paul Kot, Jim Rasey, Chris Rudolph and Jeremiah Shingledecker.

After the awards presentation was over Chad Brachmann had a prize for two different drivers in attendance and decided that the best way to determine a winner was by playing Bingo.So, the drivers were each given two bingo cards and they played Bingo. The first winner to call Bingo was Eric Gabany. He received a completed body kit worth $1,000 donated by MadSkins Racecar Bodies and Sunflowers of Sanborn both from Sanborn, NY. The second place winner was a tie between Brad Rapp and Dave Murdick. To determine the tie breaker, they drew another number and whoever had it on their card would be declared the winner. The lucky winner of the outer body kit worth $550 was Dave Murdick.

New for the 2022 season which will be the BRP Modified Tour’s 25th Anniversary season purses will be increased across the board. The $2,000 to win purse will increase to $2,500 in honor of our 25th year. The starting feature positions will drop to 24 from 26 based on our 2021 car counts. Redraws will find the top three in each heat going to the redraw or a maximum of 12 positions or half the field.

The point system will see more emphasis on the features instead of the heat races. Heat race points will start at 6 and drop to 1 through all positions. The feature points will start at 50, drop two for each position back to 4. There will still be 20 show up points awarded for each race and at the end of the season 100 perfect attendance points will be given to all drivers with perfect attendance. The BRP Modified Tour will once again pay $500 to each driver at the end of the series that has perfect attendance.

The schedule for 2022 is a work in progress and has not been finalized as of yet. However; it has always been our vision to schedule 8 to 10 races and with our 25th Anniversary season upon us, we would like to hold a “Special Event” at the end of our series to honor our drivers. We are in the process of contacting our local tracks to see who might be interested in partnering with us for this endeavor. Chad Brachmann Wins Big at Lernerville Speedway for the Steel City Stampede Picking up the Feature Win and the 2021 BRP Modified Tour Championship while Rex King, Sr. takes home a Brand New Bicknell Racing Products Chassis.

October 16, 2021…..Marble, PA……. Chad Brachmann came into the weekend five points behind Rex King, Jr. for the BRP Modified Tour series championship and after Friday night’s preliminary heat races went into the feature event on Saturday night just one point back. The feature money was boosted from the Stampede payoff of $3,000 to a cool $4,000 by two gentlemen that love Big Block Modified racing, Tim Thoma of Thoma Meat Market and Gary Heeman of the Dirt Track Network and Lernerville Speedway PR Director.

By the luck of the draw on Saturday afternoon Brachmann drew the pole starting position and Rex King, Jr. pulled eleventh. Also on Saturday afternoon the eleven drivers that carried perfect attendance throughout the season participated in a Reverse Draw in front of the fans for a brand new 2022X Bicknell Chassis sponsored by Bicknell Racing Products of St. Catherines, Ontario, Canada. The winner of this brand new chassis was none other than Rex King, Sr. Congratulations to Rex on being the winner of the 2022X Bicknell Chassis.

Starting on the pole, Brachmann with Jeremiah Shingledecker to his outside led the twenty-eight car starting field to the drop of the green flag and it was Shingledecker who led the first lap before the caution flag flew for Colton Walters who stopped on the speedway. On the restart, Shingledecker once again led the field to the green and sprinted out to a four car lead, but the red flag would be displayed on lap four for Ryan Riffe who flipped his mount in turn two.

Once back underway Shingledecker who led into the first turn came off the second turn high and slipped just over the back stretch. He was able to come back on the track in fifth place, but something happened with the car and the next lap he exited the track slowly with problems with the car. From the lap four restart until the checkered flag flew Brachmann held the lead he inherited from Shingledecker and went the rest of the distance to pick up his sixth win of the 2021 season with the BRP Modified Tour and the $4,000 top prize money. Meanwhile, Rex King, Jr. was advancing his positions from the eleventh starting spot and wound up in third which gave Brachmann the 2021 BRP Modified Tour series championship by one point.

Finishing behind Chad Brachmann in the race was Tonawanda, NY driver Matt Farnham followed by Rex King, Jr., Garrett Krummert and Rex King, Sr. Rounding out the top ten were Eric Gabany, Brad Rapp, Greg Martin, Dave Murdick and JR McGinley.

This concludes the 2021 BRP Modified Tour schedule and our next event will be the BRP Modified Tour Awards Banquet which will be held on November 13, 2021 at the Brandy Springs Banquet Center in Mercer, PA. The top 20 drivers will be honored and will receive point fund money and contingency awards for their performance throughout the season.

Rex King, Jr. picked up win #5 on the season at the BRP Modified Tour event at Latrobe Speedway on Saturday night after a hard fought battle with Brad Rapp.

Brad Rapp and Mark Frankhouser led the field to the drop of the green flag for the 35-lap BRP Modified Tour event at Latrobe Speedway. Rapp was able to drag race Frankhouser entering turn one on the initial lap of the race and set sail into the lead over Frankhouser, Chad Brachmann and Rex King, Jr. The first caution of the event was for Steve Barr which grouped the field back together for a double file restart which put Rapp on the pole and King, Jr. outside the front row.

On the restart, Rapp once again took command of the race with King, Jr. close behind before the caution flew once again on lap thirteen as the current point leader going into the night’s events, Chad Brachmann, came to a stop on the back stretch. Motor issues sent Brachmann to the pit area and did not return. Once again on the restart, Rapp led the field, but a quick caution on lap fourteen for Steve Slater slowed the field once again.The restart on lap fifteen went single file as BRP rules go single file after the third caution of the race. Rapp once again go the jump and the lead going into turn one over Rex King, Jr. and as the laps clicked off the battled for the lead with King, Jr. finally able to get the lead away from Rapp on lap twenty-five. The caution flew three laps later on lap twenty-eight for Shawn Kozar whose car came to a stop.The final restart of the race came on lap twenty-nine and King, Jr. held on to the top position with Rex King, Sr. able to work his way past Rapp for second on the restart. The final seven laps found King, Jr. in command with Rex King, Sr. second and Rapp third. This would be the way they crossed the line on the final lap and Rex King, Jr. picked up his fifth win of the season. Rex King, Sr. was second with Brad Rapp third, Dave Murdick fourth and Steve Barr fifth. Heat were won by Rick Regalski and Rex King, Jr.

The final race of the season for the BRP Modified Tour will be at Lernerville Speedway as part of the Steel City Stampede. The champion will be announced after Saturday nights feature events and the Reverse Draw for the Bicknell 2022X chassis will be done in front of the fans during intermission. As we head into our final race, Rex King, Jr. leads Chad Brachmann by just five points for the 2021 Series Championship.

The banquet to honor the Series Champion will be held on November 13th at the Brandy Springs Banquet Center in Mercer, PA. The top 20 drivers in points will receive cash and prize awards at the banquet.

Rex King, Sr. Leads Every Lap to Win the 2nd Annual Ralph Quarterson Memorial BRP Modified Tour event at Michaels Mercer Raceway

Marble, PA….9/18/2021….. Rex King, Sr. led wire-to-wire to capture the 2nd Annual Ralph Quarterson Memorial event at Michaels Mercer Raceway on Saturday night and his first win on the Tour this season.

Twenty-two cars were in the pit area to honor the local racing legend Ralph Quarterson. When Ralph Quarterson was racing he competed in both the Modified and Sprint Car divisions and won many races over the Western Pennsylvania area. Ralph passed away a couple of years ago and his family along with Edward Michaels of Michaels Mercer Raceway has put this race on to honor him.

By the luck of the redraw, Colton Walters and Rex King, Sr. brought the field to the drop of the green flag. King, Sr. jumped into the lead on lap one and led the first eight laps before the caution flag was displayed for Steve Barr who came to a rest on the back stretch. On the restart, King, Sr. led Dave Murdick and Walters until lap fourteen when the caution was brought out for Murdick who suffered a flat tire on his rig.Back under green King, Sr. now had Brad Rapp on his back bumper after starting in the eighth starting position. Rapp had used the high side of the speedway to work his way into second and was closing in on King, Sr. by lap twenty-three when the caution flew once again for Steve Barr who came to a rest in turn four.When the race restarted, King, Sr. was able to stretch out his lead over Rapp and Ryan Susice who towed from Wilson, NY to compete with the BRP Modified Tour. The final caution of the race was on lap thirty-one when Rapp came to a stop in turn four with rear-end troubles.

The final start belonged to King, Sr. with Susice moving into second ahead of Rex King, Jr. and Chad Brachmann. King, Sr. went the final two laps unchallenged to pick up his first BRP Modified Tour feature win of the 2021 season. Finishing second was Susice ahead of King, Jr., Chad Brachmann and Kyle Fink. Heats were won by Brachmann, Walters, and Susice.

The upcoming race at Dog Hollow Speedway has been canceled due to the sponsor of the event backing out on the track. So the next event will be on October 9th at Latrobe Speedway with the season ending race taking place the following weekend with the running of the Steel City Stampede at Lernerville Speedway which will be a two-day event with heats running on Friday night with B-Mains and Features taking place on Saturday.

Rex King, Jr. picks up his 4th BRP Modified Tour win of the 2021 Season at Latrobe Speedway

Marble, PA….9/11/2021……….The BRP Modified Tour made their first of two visits of the season at Latrobe Speedway on Saturday night. This was the first time since 2004 that the BRP Modified Tour series raced at Latrobe Speedway and the first time under the ownership of Dennis Bates. There were 18 cars on hand for the 35-lap feature event and when the checkered flags flew Rex King, Jr. was in victory lane for the fourth time this season.

Rex King, Jr. and Kevin Long led the field to the drop of the green flag and King, Jr. jumped into the lead on the first lap. A restart on lap ten then found third place starter, Garrett Krummert get the lead after going high in turn two and powering by King, Jr. for the lead. Krummert led the field through several caution periods for flat tires and even a red flag for someone in the stands until a caution waved on lap thirty-one. After several attempts to restart the race, when the green finally flew for the final time, Rex King, Jr. passed Krummert coming off of the second turn to get the lead and go on to get the win.

Garrett Krummert held on to finish second with Chad Brachmann third. Fourth place went to tenth place starter, Rex King, Sr. and Brad Rapp who blew a tire during the feature and pitted, returned to finish fifth. Heats were won by Krummert, Brachmann and Rex King, Jr.

The BRP Modified Tour returns this Saturday, September 18th to Michaels Mercer Raceway for the running of the Ralph Quarterson Memorial event that find the winner taking home $3,300. Pit gates will open at 3pm with racing at 6pm.

Garrett Krummert Sails to Victory in the BRP Modified Tour Race at Tri City Raceway

Garrett Krummert’s last win on the BRP Modified Tour series came on June 5th at Hummingbird Speedway. He has been shut out since, but on Sunday night Garrett Krummert put the competition in his rearview mirror and scored his second BRP Modified win of the season at Tri City Raceway.

Kyle Fink and Brad Rapp brought the twenty-five car field to the green flag with Rapp getting the jump on lap one. Rapp held the lead through the sixth lap when eighth place starter, Krummert used the outside of the track to take the lead. The first caution flew on lap twelve for Rex King, Sr. that had problems with the rear suspension on his car and came to a stop in turn four. On the restart, Krummert once again took command another seven laps clicked off before a caution for Steve Slater on lap nineteen slowed the action.

Two more quick cautions during the final portion of the race found Krummert in command and at times ¼ of track lead over the other drivers. A caution on lap twenty-nine of the thirty-lap event for JR McGinley and Tom Holden brought out a green-white-checkered finish, but Krummert was never challenged for the lead. At the finish Ryan Susice came home second behind Krummert with Brad Rapp holding onto third after losing a header pipe. Chad Brachmann finished fourth with Jeremiah Shingledecker coming from the seventeenth starting position to finish fifth. Sixth through tenth went to Rex King, Jr., Dave Murdick, Jimmy Holden, Greg Martin and Mark Frankhouser.

Heats were won by Krummert, King, Sr. and Rick Regalski. There were 27 cars in the pit area with Steve Barr and Chris Haines unable to make the call for the feature.

The next event on the BRP Modified Tour schedule is this coming Saturday night, September 11, 2021 at Latrobe Speedway. Gates open at 5pm with racing at 7pm.

Chad Brachmann Picks Up Win #5 on the Season at Thunder Mountain Speedway on Friday Night

The BRP Modified Tour completed their tenth race of the 2021 season on Friday night at Thunder Mountain Speedway in Brookville, PA. There were 18 cars on hand for the event and Mother Nature stayed away to let the cars compete in the 35-lap event.

Rex King, Sr. and Eric Gabany led the field to the drop of the green but before a lap was completed the caution flag waved as Rex King, Jr., Rick Regalski and Brian Swartzlander came together in turn four. On the restart the caution flag waved again for Eric Gabany as his motor expired after taking the lead in turn one. On the third try Rex King, Sr. jumped out ahead of JR McGinley and led the pack until lap seven when the caution flag waved once again for Steve Slater who spun in turn four.

On the single file restart, Rex King, Sr. once again took command of the lead with ninth place starter Chad Brachmann now sitting in second ahead of JR McGinley. Brachmann went to work on King,Sr. and the caution flag waved once again for Garrett Krummert after tangling with Tony Pangrazio and Steve Slater. Krummert retired from the event while the other two tagged the back of the field.The final restart on lap eighteen found King, Sr. and Brachmann going after one another and after some banging of the two cars Brachmann took the lead on lap twenty-seven but King, Sr. fought back and led the next three laps before Brachmann once again did a slide job in turn two to get the lead and went on to pick up the feature win.

Finishing second was Rex King, Sr. Brian Swartzlander who was involved in the initial start accident came from the back of the pack to challenge for second several times, but ended up third at the stripe. Fourth place went to JR McGinley with Rex King, Jr. making his way from the rear to finish fifth.

Heat races were won by Garrett Krummert and Chad Brachmann. The BRP Modified Tour was to venture to Hummingbird Speedway on Saturday night but early afternoon rains washed out the program. The next event on the schedule for the BRP Modified Tour will be Sunday, September 5, 2021 at Tri City Raceway. BRP Modified Tour board member Deanne Byers and race car driver Brad Rapp’s wife, Ashley have put together a Clash for Cash for the upcoming race at Tri City and have raised $1,075 for finishing positions 1-26 with each position receiving at least an extra $25 for each position as well as a few of the laps have $300 extra to be divided between them. They also have collected 13 different contingency awards valued at $100 each to be given away on Sunday night.

This will make the Labor Day weekend event at Tri City Raceway a special event for the drivers and one you won’t want to miss. The BRP Modified Tour would also like to welcome Epertherner Auto Wrecking of Grove City, PA back as a sponsor for the 2021 racing season.
